These accounts show you all your repeat medicine and dosage and you can choose the ones you need.

If you are unable to access Airmid, the NHS App or SystmOnline you can also:

We do not take repeat prescription requests over the phone, unless we have agreed this with you in advance.

Collecting your prescriptions

From the surgery

We are a dispensing practice, which means we can dispense your medicines if you live more than a mile by road from a community pharmacist.

It helps us if you can use the dispensary at least 20 minutes before it shuts. The dispensary opening hours are:

  • 08:00 to 18:30 Monday to Friday
  • 15:00 to 18:30 every evening

Outside these hours, in an emergency, if there is a doctor in the building we can still dispense.

When you see the doctor and a prescription is written, your medicine may be collected before leaving the surgery.

From a pharmacy

If you live less than a mile by road from a community pharmacist you will need to nominate a pharmacy to collect your prescription from.

You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:

  • On the app or website where you order repeat prescriptions
  • At the surgery or fill out a nominate a pharmacy online form
  • At any pharmacy that accepts repeat prescriptions

Paying for your prescription

You will need to pay before collecting your medicine.

Prescription charges from 1st April 2023 are £9.65 per item.

If you have 3 or more items in 3 months or 11 or more items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a Prescription Prepayment Certificate (PPC).

The certificate covers all your NHS prescriptions for a set price:

  • 3-month (PPC): £31.25
  • 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £111.60
  • HRT prepayment certificate (PPC) £19.30

You can buy a PPC online, in person at some pharmacies or by calling 0300 330 1341.

You can find out if you are eligible for free prescriptions using the NHS eligibilty check

If you are entitled to free prescriptions please bring your proof and show it to us every time you collect dispensed medication; we are contractually obliged to ask you for it, even if we know you well.

If someone is picking up the medicines on your behalf please make sure you have given them the proof. You may be asked for your National Insurance Number for some exemption categories.

If we suspect anyone of prescription fraud we will contact the police and you may be liable to prosecution.

If you are entitled to free prescriptions but do not have proof and pay for the prescription you can reclaim this payment by collecting a form from a community pharmacy (like Boots in Tisbury).

Medication reviews

If you have a repeat prescription, we may ask you to come in for a regular review.

We review all patients with a repeat prescription in the month of their birthday; we will be in touch when you need to come in for a review.

What to do with old medicines

Please return these to the surgery, if we dispensed them for you, or take them to the pharmacy if you collected them from there.

Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.

Questions about your prescription

If you have questions about your medicine, our dispensers can often answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.

The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.
